Detroit News staffers Craig Yuhas, Tim Twentyman and Tony Paul experienced a two-day venture in search of the toughest 18 holes on public courses in Metro Detroit — in St. Clair, Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston and Monroe counties. The 6th Hole at Stonebridge came out as one of the toughest and they added it to their 18-hole scorecard to create “18-Holes of Misery”. Their experience is noted as hole seventeen in the original article below.
Why is it the toughest? Tony Paul writes:
Easily the toughest par 3 we played, this devil also plays into a breeze. Which means, trying to maneuver a wood into a narrow, kidney-shaped green that’s accessorized by bunkers short left and an over-hanging tree on the right. And if you’re too far left (woods) or short (marsh), kiss par and bogey goodbye. Odds are, departing this back-to-front sloped green, you’ll be wishing you had just stayed home and mowed the lawn.
